Competing Interest

Jurnal HAM is committed to maintaining academic integrity and transparency in all publications. The competing interest policy is established to ensure that every scholarly work published is free from bias that could undermine the credibility of the journal or its readership.

Competing interests include:

  • Financial: honoraria, grants, shares, or commercial contracts.
  • Non-financial: political affiliations, ideological commitments, personal relationships, or organizational positions.
  • Institutional: involvement in institutions that may benefit from or be disadvantaged by the publication.

Author Declaration

All authors are required to include a competing interest declaration when submitting their manuscript. The declaration must cover both financial and non-financial interests within the past three years. If no competing interests exist, authors must explicitly state that they have no competing interests. All relevant interests will be disclosed openly in the published article.

Role of Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers share the responsibility of safeguarding the integrity of the publication process. They are required to disclose any competing interests before accepting a review assignment. If a conflict exists, they must withdraw from the process, and the journal will appoint an alternative editor or reviewer to ensure objectivity. This mechanism guarantees that editorial decisions remain fair and transparent.

Handling Procedures

The handling of competing interests follows several stages. First, interests are identified through disclosure forms. Second, editors assess the level of risk posed to the integrity of the publication. Third, mitigation measures are applied when necessary, such as replacing reviewers or editors, or adding transparency notes to the publication. Finally, all relevant interests are disclosed openly in the article to maintain accountability.
