Data Sharing and Reproducibility

Jurnal HAM is committed to promoting transparency, integrity, and reproducibility in research through a data policy aligned with the interdisciplinary nature of human rights scholarship. Authors are encouraged to share underlying data, code, and research materials whenever ethically, legally, and methodologically feasible. Where restrictions apply—such as privacy protection, security concerns, or legal limitations—authors must clearly state these in a Data Availability Statement.

This policy is fully aligned with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics, which emphasize transparency, consistency, and integrity in scholarly publishing. The journal does not mandate unrestricted data openness but promotes responsible data sharing practices to enhance trust, prevent misuse, and strengthen the reproducibility of research findings.

Jurnal HAM recognizes data transparency and reproducibility as essential components of academic integrity in human rights scholarship. Reproducibility is understood broadly, including analytical, methodological, and conceptual reproducibility appropriate to legal and social science research.

This policy is aligned with the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics, particularly regarding transparency, accountability, and consistency in scholarly communication.

 

Scope of Research Data

Research data includes all materials supporting published findings. In human rights research, data may also include sensitive materials requiring additional protection.

 

Openness and Legitimate Restrictions

The journal encourages open data practices whenever possible. However, it recognizes that human rights research may involve:

  • protection of vulnerable populations,
  • confidentiality of victims or informants,
  • legal or contractual restrictions, and
  • political sensitivity.

In such cases, limited or controlled access is permitted, provided transparency regarding restrictions is maintained.

 

Reproducibility of Research

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research methods are described in sufficient detail to enable the traceability of reasoning and evidence.

 

Data Citation and Ethical Use

All datasets must be properly cited using recognized academic standards, including persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI where available). Misuse, misattribution, or unauthorized use of data constitutes a breach of publication ethics.

 

Peer Review Considerations

Where appropriate, supporting data may be reviewed to assess methodological rigor.

 

Post-Publication Integrity

Concerns regarding data integrity, reproducibility, or availability will be addressed in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines, which may include correction, expression of concern, or retraction where necessary.
